The College of Architects

Role and Composition

The main duties entrusted to the College of Architects are as follows:

  • It defines and refines architectural directions, and then evangelize them to the developers' community. Each project leader is responsible with respect to the College of Architects for the implementation of the common architecture principles within the development Project.
  • It proposes the creation of new projects to the Board, and suggests the project leader and the license adopted. The Board then deliberates within the month that follows either accepting or rejecting this proposal.
  • It sets out the specification approval procedure.
  • It approves specification common to all projects.

The College of Architects involves:

  • All ObjectWeb development project leaders.
  • Physical persons, coopted for a period of one year, by the group of project leaders because of their scientific and technical abilities.
  • The choice of physical persons coopted is approved by the Board.
  • The Chief Architect is elected from among the members of the College of Architects by its members.

  • 2006/04/19: Christophe Ney elected Chief Architect.
  • 2006/04/10: Addition of Jacques Cayuela. Gérard Vandôme resigns from the college
  • 2005/09/08: Addition of Benjamin Mestrallet, Miguel Valdes and Naci Dai.
  • 2005/04/20: Petr Tuma replaces Frantisek Plasil.
  • 2005/01/01: Manu reelected Chief Architect.
  • 2005/03/17: Sacha Krakowiak resigns from the college.
  • 2004/12/13: Added new coopted members: Ricardo Jimenez, David Li and Antoine Mensch.
  • 2004/05/12: Bruno Dumant left the college.
  • 2004/03/29: Jeff Mesnil left the college. Added Richard S. Hall.
  • 2004/02/13: Added Frantisek Plasil.
  • 2004/01/26: new Chief Architect (E. Cecchet). Removed project leaders and co-opted members distinction.
  • 2003/02/10: By collegial email decision, Jean-Frederic Mesnil (INRIA) replaced Christophe Ney as the JOTM project leader.
  • 2003/01/30: At this college meeting, Sebastien Chassande-Barrioz (France Telecom R&D) was unanimously coopted following the proposal done by Pascal Dechamboux.
  • 2002/12/17: By collegial email decision, Eric Bruneton (France Telecom R&D) was coopted.
  • 2002/12/17: By collegial email decision, Alexandre Lefebvre (France Telecom R&D) was coopted.
  • 2002/12/17: By collegial email decision, Emmanuel Cecchet (INRIA SARDES) was coopted.
  • 2002/02/27: By collegial email decision, the ProActive project was created and Denis Caromel (INRIA OASIS/I3S/CNRS) was coopted.
  • 2002/01/21: Initial college members.
